D.O.R. Outfitters was founded with the intention of building a community of hard working and authentic naturalists. Negativity and pretentious behavior often plagues our community and creates division amongst individuals that have far more in common with each other than the general public. The bottom line is that our passion for conservation and pursuit of wildlife should transcend political, religious, and social affiliations.

The acronym “D.O.R.” stands for an animal that is found “dead on road” and originates from slang within the herpetology community. Finding a d.o.r. is heartbreaking but is a universal reminder that the community needs to protect wildlife. a d.o.r. also represents the adversity that naturalists face in the field and the grit needed to persevere through those challenges. we hope that our apparel can represent the grit and tenacity of our community, all while having a bit of fun.

Daniel ethan basa, founder
Hello! my name is Daniel ethan basa. I am a naturalist and creator based out of st. petersburg, florida.
in the summer of 2022 after graduating from eckerd college with a degree in environmental studies and business management, i picked up my camera again and began creating wildlife videos for social media.
Shortly after, I tapped into a vast network of creators and naturalists. Despite meeting some incredible people and going on amazing adventures, I grew frustrated with the constant negativity within the community.
I never expected the amount of hostile and toxic interactions between people who were passionate about photographing reptiles, amphibians, birds, and mammals. Unfortunately there is a petty and pretentious vocal minority within our community that use their platform to tear their peers down.
I have always been so lucky to have a great group of creators and naturalists around me but never realized that most people in our field do not have that.
Whether you are a professional or just starting out, I hope that through these designs, we can find some common ground and realize that we are much stronger together.

Rayna Loos, who goes by Sea Dragun, is a marine scientist, naturalist, and artist from New Jersey.
While she has been creating art for as long as she can remember she has also always been intrigued by our oceans.
Sea Dragun attended Eckerd College and graduated with a degree in marine science, concentrating in marine biology, in 2021.
Currently, you can find her kayaking around Shell Key Preserve as an eco-guide or at home painting sea creatures and other treasures from our natural world.
In the future, Sea Dragun hopes to find a happy medium between her education in marine science and her passion for creating art through artistic outreach or scientific illustration work.
